CONSTITUTION SIGNED – GERMAN DEMANDS INCREASE
Dateline 1st November 2004
INTRODUCTION
No sooner is the ink dry on Tony Blair’s signature on the so called “Constitution” than Germany starts to wield some of the extra power it believes it has achieved over the other nations of Europe. As in the past international treaty law has been used illegally to destroy the constitutional sovereignty of democratic nations. And before the peoples of Europe can vote on their own sovereignty the German political class starts enjoying its new imperial powers!
The hypocrisy of the German political class (inter alios Schroeder’s Government, the “political foundations” of all the political parties, German industry and the German Foreign Office) knows no bounds. They fought bitterly to keep Vodaphone out of Germany, protected German water and electricity companies while taking over British, took over British car companies while protecting their own and having joined with the French in the defense equipment giant EADS, absorbed leading British defence technology companies. They used the protected monopoly of Deutsche Post in Germany to enter the British and other EU member markets, protected German farmers from fair competition from Poles and Czechs while taking over Polish and Czech businesses, newspapers and radio and television stations. AND NOW THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO DEMAND THAT THE POOREST COUNTRIES IN EUROPE BOW TO GERMAN INDUSTRY’S NEED TO EXPAND! Read the latest contribution from our German friends at german-foreign-policy.com:
ROME/BERLIN OCTOBER 2004
German Government representatives took advantage of the celebrations of the signing of the European Union’s “Constitution” in Rome to demand the speedy opening of the markets of member states. German Foreign Policy learned this from members of the delegations of the Southern and eastern European member states. In particular Italy, Poland, Greece and the Czech Republic were attacked for “failing to modernise” their economies.
The pressure from Berlin, with the aim of aiding the expansion of German industry has strengthened the resistance in several European coalition Governments. No wonder two Italian cabinet members have threatened to resign if this “constitution” is passed unamended and without a referendum.
Such resistance is countered by threats from Berlin. They demanded for example the opening up of the Italian energy industry. Particularly threatened is the Italian energy concern ENEL which is resisting a regional break up – with the tacit support of the Italian Government. The German Chancellor has demanded that “All consumers in the EU’s energy markets must, by 2007, be able to choose their electricity and gas provider”. Schroeder demands similar freedoms for East European pensioners and social security recipients! Berlin intends to “tear down” the “borders of national markets” the German press reports. The EU Special Commissioner Guenther Verheugen (one of the most aggressive and arrogant of the eurofederalists – ed) has demanded “cross border mergers” strengthening of defence industries and centralisation of armaments procurement.
Even circles within German industry are worried at this aggression from Germany. Romano Prodi even described the German demands as “a dictat” and is now offering a counter to the “Charlemagne Europe” of the Franco German dictatorship – with more power to the European Commission of course!
