One of the many overt attacks on Russia and eastern Europe by the forces of NATO and the EU has been the plethora of plans to break up Russia by instigating regional and ethnic rebellion. (see recent post on UK war with Russia) But it is now the USA which is confronted by a constitutional crisis and States’ secession.
To the US led conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, Yemen and Iran can be added a civil war in America. Like the other conflicts each side sees it as an existential war (41% of Democrats and 38% of Republicans see violence justified in frustrating the aims of the other party – and that in a “democracy” which fights wars to impose “western values”).
The map below shows the support among Democrats, Independents and Republicans for States’ secession from the United States. In the south no fewer than 66% of Republicans and 50% of Independents wish to secede from the Union while in the Pacific States 47% of Democrats and a third of Independents wish to secede. In the Mountain States 43% of Republicans support secession.
In Europe where support for the Ukraine has been falling and antagonism toward the EU rising, Slovakia and Hungary stand out with a large minority in Italy blaming the West for the war while 59% of East Germany do so.
Perhaps those politicians and think tanks in the USA and Europe who have drawn up plans to dismember the Russian Federation (see the increasingly hysterical Daniel Hannan on 12th February: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-13074841/DANIEL-HANNAN-Russia-broken-thousand-years-tyrannical-land-purge-gulag-Ivan-Terrible-Conquest-wired-psyche.html) will look to their own potential break ups first!
THE BORDER WAR
There are two wars on the southern border of the USA – the invasion by illegal migrants now amounting to some 2m a year and the war between the border states and the Federal Government about their respective responsibilities to stop that invasion.
We must remember that these migrant invasions are far more pernicious than invasions by a foreign army. Foreign armies and their leaders come and go but migrant invasions are demographic takeovers on a permanent basis – paid for by the citizens of the invaded country. As such there can be no doubt that such an invasion attacks the very constitution of the United States.
So while the Biden regime and the US Supreme court (https://www.texastribune.org/2024/01/22/texas-border-supreme-court-immigration/#:~:text=The%20U.S.%20Supreme%20Court%20on,deployed%20miles%20of%20concertina%20wire. ) say that Federal agents can’t be blocked from the border the Texas border guard continues to erect and strengthen the border fences and razor wire. The Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said:
“The Supreme Court’s temporary order allows Biden to continue his illegal effort to aid the foreign invasion of America,” Paxton said in a statement. “The destruction of Texas’ border barriers will not help enforce the law or keep American citizens safe. This fight is not over, and I look forward to defending our state’s sovereignty.”
The Texas National Guard “has deployed armed soldiers and vehicles to block federal government from accessing the river” in Eagle Pass and informed them no Federal Border Patrol agents will be allowed to enter Shelby Park “in any operational capacity”. They rightly accuse the Federal Border guard of not guarding the border but “perpetuating illegal crossings”.
Similar conflicts have of course arisen in Europe as Greece and Italy have taken unilateral action to enforce their borders which are of course the European Union border. Just as these illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Africa have been “passed on” to other EU countries so Texas has bussed illegal immigrants to other US States like California and New York where politicians refuse to support border defence!
Even the union representing Federal Border Patrol workers has stated that:
“Rank-and file BP agents are not going to start arresting Texas National Guard members for following their LAWFUL orders. That’s fake news.”
“Rank-and-file BP agents appreciate and respect what TX has been doing to defend their state in the midst of this catastrophe that the Biden Admin has unleashed on America. We want to be perfectly clear, there is no fight between rank-and-file BP agents and the Texas National Guard, Gov. Abott, or TX DPS. It may make flashy headlines, but it simply isn’t true.”
Indeed the US Constitution provides for a State’s self defence in an emergency such as an evident invasion. Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 stipulates that,
“No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit delay.”
It is clear that the arrival of some 7m illegal immigrants in three years not to mention the US life-destroying smuggling of the drug fentanyl and other deadly drugs, as human trafficking by international drug cartels exploits Biden’s deliberate neglect of the border and the law has meant an invasion of the southern border of the United States.
So Texas Governor Abbott has declared an “invasion mode”, ignored federal judges’ rulings and Biden’s executive orders, and accepted help from the governors of the other (so far twenty six) Republican states who have expressly supported Texas. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said on X:
“The federal government’s failure to secure our nation’s southern border is jeopardizing the safety of all Americans. Tennessee has always stood with Texas, and we always will.”
25 Republican governors released the following joint statement in support of Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas’ constitutional right to self-defence:
“President Biden and his Administration have left Americans and our country completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border. Instead of upholding the rule of law and securing the border, the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.
“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border. We do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally.
“The authors of the U.S. Constitution made clear that in times like this, states have a right of self-defence, under Article 4, Section 4 and Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution. Because the Biden Administration has abdicated its constitutional compact duties to the states, Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.”

Florida will send 1,000 of its own National Guard troops to Texas to support Texas National Guard efforts to secure the border and Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said on X:
“Kentucky stands with Greg Abbott and Texas’ right to self defence on the Southern Border. President Biden’s failed open border has let poison that’s killing our kids pour into Kentucky and made us a border state.”
TREASON?
The US Constitution – unlike UK law! – seems to restrict treason to conspiring with “enemies” (Article III, Section 3)
“only in levying War against [the United States], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.
whereas in the UK treason is defined more broadly including (according to R v Thistlewood 1820) “destroying the constitution” under which deliberately ignoring the security of the nation’s border would doubtless fall. Texas itself is ignoring Biden’s ultimatum and continues to strengthen the border. The constitutional crisis continues and exposes the USA to the splintering of the State which it planned for Russia! It is not yet clear how and when it will be resolved but waging a (losing) war against the second most militarily powerful country in the world while unable to unite your own country in defending its borders is a catastrophic failure of leadership.
