What is worse for the German French and Spanish critics is that had even the Iraqis voted a majority would have gone for Bush. Certainly the Serbs will (half) rejoice that there will be no return of the eurofascist clique of Democrats who with their German allies destroyed Yugoslavia. Poles Czechs and Bulgarians will prefer an American President who will not ally himself with the insulting Chirac and the expansionist Schroeder. The people of Darfur in the Sudan will welcome the Bush “imperialism”.
Dateline 3rd November 2004
One of the chief characteristics of the Presidential election in the United States has been the scorn and even hatred of the Bush administration and Republicans in general by Democrat voters and the “liberal” (that is left wing) media on both sides of the Atlantic. Indeed US opinion polls confirmed that the overwhelming attitude of Republicans was whole-hearted support for George Bush whereas the overwhelming motivation of the Democrats was hatred of George W Bush. That is why the Democrats lost – for while your energy goes into destructive hatred of your opponents you have little left for a constructive alternative philosophy and credible policies.
George Bush this time not only won the electoral vote he won the popular vote by a convincing margin and the Republicans retained control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. A devastating result for Democrats who, now that their long era of gerrymandering has come to an end, can do nothing but whine and call for recounts. British journalists spent much of the campaign telling their audiences how corrupt America was and how “Bush was guilty of gerrymandering”. In fact it is the Democrats – aided by the US system of electoral boundary determination – who have been the historic “gerrymanderers” (see below).
THE COUNTRIES WHICH WILL BE PLEASED NOT TO HAVE KERRY
What is worse for the German French and Spanish critics that had even the Iraqis voted I imagine they would have gone for Bush. Certainly the Serbs will (half) rejoice that there will be no return of the eurofascist clique of Democrats who with their German allies destroyed Yugoslavia. Poles Czechs and Bulgarians will all prefer an American President who will not ally himself with the insulting Chriac and the expansionist Schroeder. The people of Darfur in the Sudan would certainly have voted for the Bush “imperialism”, for when there is a crisis in the world it is the very pseudo intellectual left which daily despises America which is the first to demand “international action” – and only the USA has the power to provide that action.
It is also the American left which goes into Afghanistan and Iraq on the back of the hated Bush and his military and then starts reconstructing those societies along socialist and feminist lines, pushing western ideas of “democracy” (by which they mean corporatist politocracy!) and undermining the whole religious, historical constitutions and attitudes of the native population. And then they have the nerve to attack “regime changing” wars!
THE HISTORY OF GERRYMANDERING BY THE US DEMOCRATS *
The very foundation of the Democrats iron grip on Congress from 1931 to 1994 (how else could it have gone on so long?) was plain gerrymandering. This was achieved by control of the individual State legislatures.
Between 1956 and 1883 the Democrats controlled a majority of the State legislatures in every year except one. In 1974 they controlled both houses in the legislatures of 37 States! It is in the individual State legislatures where the constituency boundary decisions are made. This manipulation was often done by creating a few districts that were virtually 100 percent Republican – in order of course to create many more that were dominantly Democrat.
But in recent years Republicans have fought back (hence the outrage of the left wing US media). Republicans now control 21 legislatures and the Democrats 17. This has meant a reduction in Democratic gerrymandering opportunities and an increase in Republican – a fairer balance!
Perhaps we British should offer our Boundary Commission as an arbitrator – except that it takes so many more Conservatives to elect a Conservative MP than Socialist voters to elect a Labour MP – so we can hardly play holier than thou!
