LORD ASHDOWN – THE “LIBERAL” CORPORATIST AS WARMONGER
If you need a man who has no history, rejects democratic nation states, who will obey any order, who thinks he has a right to rule and will call on supranational armed forces (acting outside international law, without parliamentary vote and without UN sanction) to bomb those who disobey then up step politicians of the calibre of Lord Paddy Ashdown.
Dateline 4th September 2013
Lord “Paddy” Ashdown is a former leader of the “Liberal Democrat” party whose name we should always put in inverted commas since it is neither liberal nor democratic. The Party has always believed – as has Ashdown and with a passion – that nation states should not exist and that supranational powers (run by people like themselves of course) should rule the world. They have always been passionate believers and uncritical promoters of that constitution destroying, corrupt and financially collapsing European Union and the feckless, nation destroying “United Nations”.
When I say “they” I refer of course to their leaders and most of the “Liberal Democrat” parliamentarians, not to most of their members and voters. The latter probably genuinely believe in small scale community based living, disarmament, entrepreneurship, parliamentary democracy, free markets and the rule of law. But the former certainly do not – their guiding lights are supranational political powers, corporatist donors, European federalism and world wide moralising backed by big military powers. This latter world view is epitomised by the strutting, arrogant character of the intellectually challenged Paddy Ashdown who recently demanded to know “why we have armed forces at all” if we were not prepared to attack Syria. The idea that armed forces are there to defend the nation state would never occur to Ashdown who seeks to abolish the nation state!
Ashdown’s warmongering over Syria is typical of the corporatist supranationalist he is – the Bilderberger who went out to be the dictator of Bosnia and Herzogovina on the back of NATO and made a fool of himself by giving misleading testimony to the Hague Tribunal and who now wants to bomb the one side in Syria which has given a measure of protection to Christians there against the murderous attacks of Cameron/Obama’s Islamic allies.
The former President of Bosnia, Alia Izetbegovic had written in “The Muslim Declaration”: “There can be no peace nor co-existence between the Islamic Faith and non Islamic institutions….The Islamic movement must and can take power as soon as it is morally and numerically strong enough not only to destroy the non Islamic power but to build a new Islamic one”. But Ashdown quite liked him and said “he became the father of his people – the person who did more than any other to ensure the survival of the modern state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
Like so many “Liberal Democrats”, Ashdown, while preaching moderation and community living at home, surrenders our democratic institutions to supranational powers like the UN and the EU and prances around the world intervening militarily in other people’s countries. We must learn from the character of Ashdown (and that other Liberal leader Lloyd George who said in the 1930s “Hitler was the greatest living German and it is a pity there were not more like him in England”) that fascist aggression is rather common in what is laughingly called the “centre” of British politics. That other great 1930s “Liberal” Lord Lothian, although eventually seeing the error of his ways, was supportive of Hitler’s Germany, met Hitler in 1935 and excused the latter’s march into the Rhineland against the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
The Liberal Democrat Party of the United Kingdom is more in the mould of that combination of socialism and corporatism which has always been close to fascism and which on the other side of the Atlantic finds its best expression in the Boston Democratic Party, with its Hitler loving JP Kennedy and fierce anti British and pro appeasement policies of the 1930s. No wonder US Secretary of State, John Kerry and Paddy Ashdown make common cause over bombing Syria. They also share Christian religious beliefs but seem uncaring of the suffering of Christians in Syria and Egypt (preferring to bomb their defenders) – perhaps because those suffering from Islamic extremism tend to be Orthodox Christians rather than Catholics!
Like so many of the planners and perpetrators of the war against Yugoslavia Ashdown was an attendee at the euro-federalist (founded by a “former” Nazi) BILDERBERG group. Some years ago he (like Kenneth Clarke) was reprimanded by the British House of Commons ethics committee for not declaring his costs to attend such a meeting. His costs were apparently paid for by “Spanish businessmen”.
As absolute ruler of Bosnia Ashdown found no reason to be even handed and he ludicrously compared the Serbs (who were our allies against German Imperialism and European fascism in two world wars and strong anti fascists after the war) with the Nazis. He equated the Bosnians, Croatians and Albanians (who were fascist and Nazi allies and have been guilty of some of the most murderous ethnic cleansing in recent decades) with peace loving democracies! He compares the European Union (German Europe which provoked and instigated the Yugoslav war, illegally recognising Croatia, arming the Albanians, promoting the lies about “concentration camps” and the “Sarajevo marketplace massacre”) with the anti fascist allies of the second world war.
In March 2002 Paddy Ashdown appeared as a prosecution witness in the trial of Slobodan Milosevic. He gave evidence about his four day visit to Kosovo in 1998 and claimed he was a witness to atrocities allegedly carried out by the Yugoslav Army. He claimed he had witnessed these events from a position above the village of Gegaj in Albania overlooking Kosovo. But when he was told that from his observation point it was impossible to observe the area he claimed, he changed his story and said in fact he was somewhere else!
He then supplied the court with grid co-ordinates different from his original testimony, and these new co-ordinates put him inside Kosovo and not in Albania. That contradicted his March 2002 testimony. Moreover, on the map the prosecution supplied to try and verify Ashdown’s testimony the village of Gegaj had been moved! When challenged on this point the prosecution reluctantly admitted it may be a faulty map! With such a witness and such a prosecution only the worst bigots could possibly see the Hague Tribunal as other than a kangaroo court and the worst example of “victors justice” – victors, indeed, in an illegal war.
Ashdown omitted to mention that his frequent, expenses paid, trips to the Balkans were courtesy of George Soros’s Open Society Institute, the very same institute that provides funding and staff for the Hague Yugoslav Tribunal itself. The Open Society is a corporatist, euro-federalist organisation devoted to destroying the nation states of Europe in the name of the European Union. In the former state of Yugoslavia it saw an opponent of everything Soros (and of course Ashdown) stood for. Yugoslavia saw in them the same destructive forces which they had fought in the Second World War. And the British and American political establishments forgot their history and knew nothing of politics of the Balkan morass in which they “intervened”.
But where you need a man who has no history, rejects democratic nation states, who will obey orders, who thinks he has a right to rule and can call on supranational armed forces (acting outside international law, without parliamentary vote and without UN sanction) to bomb those who disobey, then up step politicians of the calibre of Lord Paddy Ashdown.
