“It was a mistake to have a referendum in Sweden. Why do we have the expertise of politicians (sic!) when we throw away one issue to the public which does not have the knowledge?” Hans Olov Olsson Chief Executive, Volvo
The massive defeat for the euro-federalist ruling class in Sweden will be seen in years to come as a turning point in the defeat of the German-dominated, corporatist Euro-State. Only once has any nation in Europe been asked specifically whether they wanted to abolish their currency, central bank, Treasury and (what remains of) their democracy in favour of the Euro run from Frankfurt – and Sweden rejected it by the overwhelming majority of 56% to 41%. And this despite the “Yes” side outspending the opposition by more than 5 to 1.
The most devastating blow against the eurofederalist cause was that Swedish voters in the 18-30 age bracket voted more heavily against the Euro than any other age group. This not only demolishes the oft repeated europhile myth that ” The Young are pro Europe” but it means that the Euro-cause is probably dead for decades to come. The future is no longer superstate shaped but nation state shaped!
As in other countries the political class warned of economic disaster of the people retained their sovereignty – but as in other countries there has been no collapse of the Swedish currency. As in other countries “millions of jobs” were at stake and Swedish unemployment would rise but as in other countries mass unemployment is inside the Euro-zone, not in Sweden. As in other countries the Swedes were warned they “would lose influence” if they rejected the Euro but as others realised the Swedish Government has no influence anyway.
The Swedes have demonstrated that good social communication and a cohesive democratic society can defeat a corporatist conspiracy (funded by big corporations, a corrupt State and aided and abetted by most national newspapers) against democratic nationism. The quotation from the classic corporatist who runs Volvo, above, would not have been made if the answer had been Yes! Such a “war” has of course characterised the entire Eurocrat class throughout the 50-year construction of the “European Union”.
You can always tell when corrupt and manipulative politicians are at work – they talk about everything except the real issue (see Chapter 1 (2) of Fascist Europe Rising “Six Techniques to destroy Free Nations”). Europhile politicians in all countries have pre-defined the Euro “as a purely economic issue” when they know that it is the most fundamental democratic and constitutional issue in any country. In Britain the Prime Minister is, not for nothing, also “First Lord of the Treasury” and the great battles between the House of Lords and the House of Commons over financial and economic power concerned the very definition of democracy. No democracy can exist without control by the people’s representatives of government spending and borrowing, no sovereign nation exists without its own monetary affairs and its own currency and no democracy exists without the sovereignty of its people. He who holds the purse strings hold power. He who defines the currency defines the State.
The Swedes rejected the European Union’s principal pillar, the Euro, because (unlike most of those ex nations completely subsumed into the EU State)
1. their economy, like those other non Euro participants Norway, Switzerland, Denmark and the UK is flourishing
2. the left in Sweden, being by and large still democratic, nationist and anti-fascist will not follow their “leaders”
3. the Swedes are not Roman Catholic and therefore are not exposed to that Church’s political message of corporatism nor (unlike Ireland, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Malta etc) have they been exposed to the Vatican’s frantic pro EU propaganda in recent years
4. the country is sufficiently small to permit good democratic communication between people and communities so as to bypass the “official” State and corporatist media
5. the Swedish left has exposed the fascist and German imperialist nature of the European Union (see in particular Jan Myrdal’s Det Nya Stor-Tyskland – The New Greater Germany).
