In Europe the growing visibility of “street Nazis” is a useful screen for Establishment-supported fascism in the EU. While attacking simple, swastika bearing nationalists the EU Establishment can divert attention from the institutional Euro-fascism in the Europe they have built.
For instance the recent European Basketball championship match between Russia and Croatia was serenaded by the notorious fascist Marko Perkovic known as “Thompson” (after the machine gun which Croats celebrate as a killer of Serbs).
Perkovic whose fans give Nazi salutes at his concerts, is a supporter of the Croat Ustashe – the Nazi allies who during the Second World War massacred Serbs Jews and gypsies, set up the notorious Jasenovac extermination camp, forced conversion of Orthodox Serbs to Catholicism at the point of a gun and whose emblems and slogans (even their equivalent of the German “Sieg Heil”) are tolerated in today’s Croatia – a full member of the European Union.
“Thompson’s” pop concerts were attended by Croat Government Ministers – the same Ministers who seek to downplay the obscene crimes of the Croatian Ustashe fascists. They are the same Ministers whose hands David Cameron was willing to shake in welcoming them into the EU!
It is the EU establishment which is the fascist threat today, not the simple thugs who parade their swastikas on the streets. The latter are in fact ironically opposing the destruction of European democracies by the EU – and whether they know it or not – are opposing those who share their fascism! But that is what you can expect when decadent political establishments destroy countries and economies and desperate people seek “strong leaders” – however ignorant and disastrous their choices may be!
It was Germany which unilaterally recognised Croatia as a separate state in 1991 and allowed the Nazis’ war time ally to start the break up of Yugoslavia and the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Croatia. This eventually led to the worst killings and ethnic cleansing since the Second Wolrd War – of Serbs from the Krajina in “Operation Storm” in 1995.
It also led to the rise of fascist organisations in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo – mimicking Germany’s war time Nazi allies and bringing about the murder of Serbs in Bosnia and the ethnic cleansing of Serbs, Jews and gypsies in Kosovo.
The German Europe Europe today is virtually identical to that of 1941 when Hitler reached the zenith of his power:
destruction of Czechoslovakia
destruction of Yugoslavia
Invasion of Ukraine (this time supported by $5bn of US help)
destruction of 28 democratic constitutions
destruction of 17 currencies and central banks
destruction and suppression of Greece
mass movement of desperate unemployed as cheap labour towards the centre of German Europe
flight of Jews from Europe
threat of war with Russia
Plus the support for all this from the fascist left and the corporatist right and the support of the same big corporations in Germany, the UK and the USA who financed, collaborated with or happily traded with the Hitler regime.
Plus of course the suppression of free speech and the end of the democratic power of the voters throughout Europe.
All this was not achieved by the moronic marchers with swastikas, the “Street Nazis” as I call them – it was achieved by those who parade themselves as our “democratic representatives”:
Most of the Parliamentary Conservative Party
The Labour Party
The Liberal Democrat Party
The BBC
The German SPD and CDU
The Vichy successors in France
The largest European and American corporations
Those who forget history are condemned to re-live it. And those who remember history but actually try to repeat it – they are the most likely to give undying support to the European Union today.
